"Model Digital-Age Work and Learning" (ISTE, 2008)
As a Creativity Fellowe, with the Scholarship of Research and Creativite Activity (SRCA), myself and two colleagues received consecutive growth grants for $5,000 and $10,000 respectively. With the funds, we hired Interaction Design students, Musical Theatre students, Film & TV students, and Mobile Computing students to create video, text, and help links for a Survive and Thrive app with topics on the transition to college life and academic success. Building relationships across the college was key in pulling it all together. The students were co-creators of this app: it was by students for students. We showcased the app with the student panel at the Sheridan Creates conference in March 2017 as highlighted in the Sheridan Insider - it was really their moment and all about them! The success of the app has led to another grant of $10,000 to build more content and create native iOS and Android versions. I learned so much from them about the design process: personas, mood boards, wireframes, scripts, storyboards, and shooting b-roll.
